Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited (CNML) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shandong Gold Mining Co. Ltd., which is duly listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKSE). CNML is developing its’ primary asset located in the Upper East Region of Ghana with a strategic vision to build a world-leading, highly valuable and responsible world-class gold mining enterprise.

 

Job Description

 

Job Purpose

To provide the lead in the execution and supervision of all mechanical, platework and related engineering projects during the Namdini Mine Construction phase including design codes in keeping with regulatory requirements, current good engineering practice and company standards to achieve the required project milestones.

Primary Accountabilities (Duties & Accountabilities)

  • Responsible for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to DO, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, CTR input, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions. This includes completion of conceptual scopes of work and preliminary designs.
  • Performs inter-discipline & discipline QA/QC and engineering compliance checks on all work performed by themselves or junior engineers within the group. This includes interfacing with other Project Specialists and Lead Engineers to ensure delivery of cross-functional targets.
  • Independently evaluates, organizes and prioritizes work which is normally subject to internal checking and approval.
  • Co-ordinates technical activities performed inside or outside the Company. This includes checking and coordinating all ongoing and completed work performed by CAD Designers.
  • Performs the review and management of project and general specifications, engineering procedures and engineering policy.
  • Prepares the documentation for all projects and ensures that it is properly archived and retrievable in line with company standards.
  • In collaboration with the relevant HR Unit will provide the needed guidance, coaching, mentoring and training for engineers in the section.
  • Contribute technical and design assistance to provide engineering design solutions in consultation with Lead Drafter or Lead Engineer
  • Monitor self-progress and quality to ensure that project schedules and deliverables are met
  • Execute checking of design drawings and participate in squad checks as directed
  • Performs any other related duties based on the exigencies of the project/ Company as assigned by the Supervisor

 

Required Skills or Experience

 

Minimum qualification (s)
  • Degree or equivalent level in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Mincom Certified, minimum Sectional Engineer’s Certificate
  • Valid DVLA License Class B
Experience (Minimum)
  • 10 years working experience in Gold mineral processing with at least 5 years in a Senior Mechanical /Management role including large-scale fixed asset management experience.
Knowledge
  • Efficient and effective production of project deliverables.
  • Strong Knowledge in Mechanical Engineering Practices and Standards
  • 3D modelling using AutoCAD, Advance Steel / Prosteel, Inventor, Navisworks, or similar package experience
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, regulations and practices applicable to the design and construction of gold processing plant structures/production facilities
Skills
  • Flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work well with other engineering disciplines, as well as outside clients, subcontractors and vendors.
  • Excellent technical skills, including computer-aid design experience
  • Possesses advanced computer skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of standards, methods and procedures to work situation.
  • Willingness and ability to perform field work in an extreme mining environment.
