Job Description

 

Job Purpose

To supervise the assigned field crew during all aspects of field surveys to achieve project targets and milestones in line with company and regulatory requirements. The field activities include setting out design controls such as TSF footprint limits, monitoring progress such as alignment and level checks, updating all as-built features such as buried utility, pit face updates, drill pattern mark-out, ore block mark-out, edge of blast, blasthole survey, etc.

Primary Accountabilities (Duties & Responsibilities)

  • Supervises crew during field surveys to ensure conformance to SOPs, fatigue management and all HSE protocols.
  • Maintains a high level of good instrument handling culture among teammates to ensure efficiency and quality delivery on targets.
  • Sets up instrument precisely as per SOP and supervises all data collection or stakeout during field surveys.
  • Records all field notes, complaints, equipment malfunctioning and report same for necessary action to be taken.
  • Identifies areas of SOPs that could be improved during field surveys and escalate any such continuous improvement proposals for review.
  • Provides periodic and ad-hoc reports to Supervisor to track progress for decision-making
  • Performs any other related duties based on the exigencies of the project/ Company as assigned by the Supervisor.

 

Required Skills or Experience

 

 

Minimum qualification (s)
  • BSc. in Geomatic Engineering/Geodetic Engineering or other related engineering field
  • Professional/Trainee professional of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors
  • GCAA RPAS License or certificate of GCAA RPAS certified trainer institution
  • Valid DVLA License Class B
Experience (Minimum)
  • 4 years of experience including Road Infrastructure, TSF Dams, Industrial Construction or Open Pit Mining Operations
Knowledge
  • Survey Instrument proficiency include UAV/RPA system (preferably Phantom experience), GNSS DGPS system, Total Stations, and Digital/Automatic Levels
  • Software Proficiency include Pix4D/Agisoft Metashape, Geovia Surpac, QGIS/ArcGIS, and Civil3D/AutoCAD or similar
Skills
  • Plan and safely supervise field data acquisition process including mining faces, waste dump updates, TSF progress updates, etc.
  • Interpret designs and extract relevant information for setting out.
  • Monitoring construction progress to ensure conformance to design tolerances through necessary checks including verticality and level checks
  • Download and upload data in different formats for processing and stake out
  • Monitoring survey equipment usage, identifying and reporting any malfunctioning.
