Job Description

 

Job Purpose

To be the primary activity owner for all civils lab works ensuring the integrity of lab works and equipment are maintained in line with company and regulatory standards.

Primary Accountabilities (Duties & Responsibilities)

  • Operates standard construction material laboratory testing equipment in a safe manner.
  • Performs analysis to check accuracy of test data.
  • Accurately performs various construction material tests in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Cleans, maintains and calibrates equipment to ensure efficiency and conformance with specifications.
  • Prepares all QC Laboratory documents like work procedures, ITP, QAP, Checklist, formats required for carrying out project specific activities and testing as per project specifications and codes of practice.
  • Coordinates with contractors for the field-testing, pre and post concrete inspection and obtaining approval.
  • Collects the soil samples of required type at specific points, getting them dried in the oven and sieved to get soil of required size.
  • Weighs fixed quantities of soil and setting up the apparatus to determine their physical and chemical properties.
  • Performs any other related duties based on the exigencies of the project/ Company as assigned by the Supervisor.

 

Required Skills or Experience

 

Competency Requirements

Minimum qualification (s)

 
  • Diploma in civil/geological engineering or relevant discipline.
Experience (Minimum)
  • 3 years progressive working experience from a geotechnical laboratory/ company
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of civil/soil/water engineering principles, practices and methods, environmental regulations, workplace safety and personnel management
  • General understanding of Building Codes as they relate to construction projects;
Skills
  • Technical report writing and interpretation
  • Collaboration
