Duties
Supervise a team of four to six employees performing visa processing and other consular duties, such as crisis response, as required. Be a subject matter expert within the visa unit for all types of visa processing, including Non-Immigrant Visas (NIV), Immigrant Visas (IV), and Diversity Visas (DV).
With minimal oversight by a Consular Officer and in conjunction with the Senior LE Staff Supervisor, s/he establishes workplace procedures, organizes work and paper flow within the Unit, and coordinates the work and leave plan for the Unit. S/he directly supervises a team of up to six Visa Assistants and ensures the smooth operations of all functions within the Visa Unit and performs quality reviews of work products completed by Visa Assistants to include looking for data entry errors and adherence to proper filing procedures.

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
- Four years of progressively responsible experience in a position of trust (i.e., handling money or sensitive materials) involving application of regulations to individual cases.
- Prior work experience must involve direct contact with customers.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
- The position requires to possess detailed and authoritative knowledge of local laws and practices related to understanding of the basic process for visa processing.
- Knowledge of customer service precepts.
- Knowledge of protecting sensitive information.
- Understanding of the difference between non-immigrant and immigrant visa applications immigrant visa eligibility, including marriage law/practices, host country civil documents, court and adoption procedures and means of reliably assessing the veracity of such documents.
Education Requirements:
Completion of at least two years of post-secondary study is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:
- Fluent English (Speaking, reading, writing) is required.
- Good working knowledge in at least one (1) of the Ghanaian local language is required. (Language proficiency may be tested)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be absolutely trustworthy, as this is a position of trust, involving the handling and safe-keeping of highly sensitive items such as U.S. visa foils.
- Keyboard/typing skills with good accuracy required.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service at all times.

Agency Benefits:
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Accra, Ghana may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
