Job Overview/Summary
- The IT / Communication Assistant will support the organization’s work by providing reliable and scalable IT applications and infrastructure of the ICED offices in the US, Ghana, and Kenya.
- H/She will work closely with the Communication and Policy Engagement Director to provide global communications support for information security awareness, ICED Website updates, general IT support and maintenance of communication toolkits for the ICED team.
- H/She is in charge of setting up, managing, and troubleshooting the technology systems that ICED uses to maintain computer and software networks.
- Their duties include responding to hardware problems, updating system software, and tracking the data and communications used on their network.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Maintain and improve the technical systems of ICED to ensure all employees have the technology they need to complete their work and ICED’s important files and information remain safe and intact.
- Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of systems.
- Offer technical support to company staff and troubleshoot computer problems.
- Obtain and install the necessary hardware and software upgrades for the ICT network to ensure that the network can meet the needs of the organization.
- Anticipate and report the cost of replacing or updating computer items.
- Implement security measures to safeguard hardware and software.
- Liaise with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to ensure reliable internet connectivity and WAN troubleshooting
- Design, develop, maintain and update ICED website and provide regular information bulletin on the site
- Support the production of organizational newsletters, leveraging public content such as SANS OUCH!
- Support and maintain internal IT communications toolkits, including standard templates for global announcements on information security policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and manage the schedule and delivery of IT communications and announcements.
- Maintain, develop, and publish announcements and other content on the ICED’s intranet and website
- Design and develop PowerPoint presentations, flyers, and other and promotional materials as required.
- Stay current on cyber trends to share communications and updates to global users as needed.
- Identify and implement metrics that evaluate the impact and reach of IT communications.
- Develop and deploy cyber security awareness and training materials such as onboarding materials, blog posts, electronic messaging, placards, stickers, wallet cards as well as phishing tests etc.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to function independently with limited direction.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Aptitude in graphic design and production, with working knowledge of authoring and marketing tools such as MailChimp, InDesign or Photoshop.
- Experience with WordPress content management systems and JavaScript programming language.Strong knowledge of various social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to design and develop flyers, advertising copies and other promotional materials.
- Ability to communicate and build effective working relationships across diverse global audience.
- Experience in developing and implementing a branded information security training program.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer engineering or related fields.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge or specialized expertise in information technology, computer engineering or information system security.
- Possession of specialized training through certifications, including CompTIA Security+, Certified
- Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA Security).
- 2 – 3 years of relevant work experience in communications, media, information security, technology, and cyber intelligence
