About This Role
- To provide employable skills training integrated with general workforce competence, work ethics, loss control, health and safety principles to the youth within Newmont Golden Ridge (NGRL) host communities as part of the company’s social responsibility. The Trainer provides technical training in the aspect of mineral processing ensuring that trainees are equipped to optimize the process plant.
In This Role You Will:
Training and Assessments
- Conduct training in process operations for process plant trainees as well as business partners in both plant mandatory and circuit operation trainings.
- Conduct Introductory Skills Program (ISP) training modules for Process trainees to ensure that all safety standards are followed per Newmont standard.
- Conduct standard task procedure training and assessment for process trainees to ensure that all safety and operational standards are followed.
- Conduct on the job technical training in all the process circuits (OJTT): Crushing, Grinding, Thickening, Leaching, Elution, Electrowinning, Tailing and Water Management.
- Possess coaching skills and experience with proven ability to work effectively with and influencing people.
- Take the initiative originate action and be responsible for them.
- Prepare monthly training schedules and report to the manager.
- Facilitate the training.
- Conduct the assessments.
- Conduct practical assessments and STP assessment for specific tasks.
Performance Management
- Review the performance of trainees.
Planning
- Draw up the monthly plan to assign the Trainees to the various circuits verifying that reminders to stakeholders are given for rotations.
- Constantly reviewing training materials to be in line with the current process plant operations.
Records & Information Management
- Manage the Learnership program.
- Compile the training pack (training session plan and registration of the training).
- Review training materials.
- Prepare the presentation slides, assessment tools, attendance and evaluation forms.
- Book the training room for the training, checking all needed training logistics are in place.
- Send training and assessment reports on the training results to the manager.
- Upload assessments results onto Success Factors.
- Scan and store a copy of the attendance sheet electronically and file hard copies of the assessment tool and attendance sheet.
Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
- Degree / Diploma in Minerals / Metallurgical Engineering.
- Workplace trainer and Assessor Certificate.
- Mincom Competency Certificate – Process/Metallurgical Officer.
Additional Knowledge:
- A working knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures.
Experience:
- Between 5 to 7 years relevant working experience.
- Training experience in mining industry.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to plan and deliver process training activities.
- Coaching skills.
- Strong training, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
