About the job

We are looking for a qualified Lab Technician to undertake a variety of medical laboratory examination. You will be handling sensitive equipment to analyse samples or substances and conduct tests. The ideal candidate should have experience in working under possibly hazardous conditions (e.g., pathogens or chemicals). He/she should be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to draw intravenous and peripheral blood.
  • Collects, processes, and handles blood and/or other biological specimens according to established procedures; instructs patients in the proper collection of samples.
  • Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests in the areas of haematology, microbiology, serology, and urinalysis, as assigned; conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid; performs blood counts using microscope.
  • Performs quality control on test results, ensuring validity and accuracy.
  • Performs calibration and troubleshooting on testing systems and instruments to ensure adherence to established standards of accuracy.
  • Keeps records and reports on results according to established procedures.
  • Execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
  • Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment.

Requirements and skills

  • Degree or Diploma in MLS
  • Proven experience as Medical Lab Technician or relevant position
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and database systems
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
  • Valid up to date laboratory AHPC license
