About the Role

This position is responsible for the supervision of plant operations and personnel in the process area in order to produce quality products in an efficient, safe and cost effective manner. The resources to be managed comprise people, machinery and materials. Maintaining output may involve the Supervisor requesting assistance or coordinating the activities of personnel from other support departments such as Maintenance, Quality Assurance or Logistics. Monitoring production output and predicting potential problems such as machine breakdowns or materials shortages is a critical part of the job.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpretation of production schedules, plans and working to achieve these plans.
  • Deploy and assign shift personnel to meet daily goals. Ensuring that all shift workers are at their post during the shift.
  • Ensuring efficient and effective use of manpower, equipment and material resources. Manage shift changeovers to avoid stoppage of the lines.
  • Ensuring safe conditions exist at all times within the work environment, and take appropriate action to protect the health and safety of employees.
  • Maintaining GMP/ housekeeping, food safety and quality at a high level within all work areas during the production process through the involvement of all team members.
  • Conducting regular visual line checks to ensure clean and safe work environment.
  • Confirm production stock at shift closures. Cross-checks labels, stock neatness and correctness of location.
  • Monitoring of work performance to ensure standard operating procedures are adhered to by the operators.
  • Review and validation of the process records on timely basis, ensuring completeness of data and prompt corrective action is taken to address any deviations.
  • Reporting relevant information and production variances to Upstream/Downstream Leader on timely basis.
  • Ensuring high GMP and hygiene standards are maintained in the plant during the shift.
  • Provides technical advice and day-to-day coaching support to subordinates to ensure the smooth running of the plant.
  • Liaises with the Maintenance Section of the factory, providing necessary data on faults or breakdowns, etc for the requisite repairs and maintenance work to be planned/carried out to ensure that the plant or machines run well at all times.
  • Reviewing current work practices to identify/ suggest areas in which quality or productivity could be improved.
  • Identify and propose improvement projects for plant facilities, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Participates in GMP audits of the plant, recommends and implements action plans to correct deviations noted during audits.
  • Helps develop, update and maintain relevant procedures and documentation for the Quality Systems and HACCP. Build Quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
  • Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the company’s Quality and safety Policies.
  • Ensures the full implementation of the QMS procedures related to Production and communicates proposed changes to the Management Representative. This includes maintenance of the appropriate documentation systems – reviews and approval of production system procedures, work instructions, process forms etc.

 

 

About You

  • BSc in any Engineering discipline or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 3 years post qualification hands-on relevant working experience, 1 year of which must have been in a supervisory grade in a Cocoa Processing Plant.
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities with good interpersonal, communication and coaching skills.
  • Critical thinker with strong analytical skills, well organized and detail oriented.
  • Proficiency in MS Office application – Word, PowerPoint and Excel to a competent standard.
  • Strong Mechanical or Electrical aptitude with the ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Good knowledge of the food processing industry, Food Safety Defense and HACCP
  • Knowledgeable in SAP and Maximo applications
