The Student Services/Support Officer will provide administrative services and assist in the effective development and operation of Student Services in the school. As the first point of contact in Student Services, the Student Services Officer provides reception services within the department which includes assisting with admissions, student behavior cases, security issues related to students, public relations initiatives, recruitment projects, and providing general information related to Student Services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a frontline support service, in identifying and resolving student issues, and where specialist service interventions have been identified, to ensure that the necessary referrals are made efficiently and professionally to the appropriate quarters.
- Determine admissibility, transferability of credit, and residency for new and readmitted students; classifies and places students into appropriate academic units.
- Advise students and families regarding educational opportunities and options, admission and other requirements, policies and procedures, transfer of credit, and financial assistance, as appropriate.
- Use triage skills to identify important or urgent issues and ensure that they are escalated appropriately to the relevant support services.
- Provide information, advice and support to students on a range of personal, pastoral and academic issues through structured sessions and informal drop ins
- Collect and review feedback from students and staff by appropriate means, as part of the Registry continuous quality improvement plan
- Contribute to the institutional database of prospective/potential and current students in the school.
- Analyze trends in student admission and retention programs; designs and implements recruitment programs for targeted groups of potential students, and develops strategies for program evaluation.
- Create and distribute a range of resource and promotional materials designed for the recruitment and retention of targeted groups.
- Prepare reports and proposals, and responds to inquiries from students and external agencies.
- Develop operating goals and objectives for the unit; implements and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate to the unit.
- Efficiently assess the student’s need, to enable appropriate onward referrals and make recommendations for ongoing support.
- Maintain appropriate records and management information statistics in relation to the frontline service, and facilitate information sharing to ensure effective service delivery in a shared environment.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Experience and Knowledge
- A minimum of 3 years related education admission experience in an educational setting or its equivalent.
- Familiar with international education
- A high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology in the workplace
- Experience within a customer-centric, transaction based administration process an advantage.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Business Administration/ Bachelor of Art in Communication
